For those who have had little or no contact with websites, the subject can be very daunting. Don't worry, that's why we are here to help you. We are not a large company with lots of resources, so our overheads are very small, which allows us to help small ventures. We specialise in helping individuals, clubs and associations and small businesses. If you are thinking about having a website but frightened that it will be too expensive, then remember, it doesn't cost anything to talk to us.
Here is a brief outline of what we can do for you.
Specification
We would need to spend time talking with you, so that we understand your needs. We want to make sure that we include all that you will need in a website, and forgetting those things which will not be needed. We will need to know what the website will be for, i.e. promoting an Association, or selling items. By the time we finish this exercise, we will have an idea of what we need to build.
Design
The next stage is to put together an outline design (the 'Look') for the website. There are so many different designs and colours, and we will want to get this right. This is probably the longest part of the process. Once you have agreed the Design, we can move on to the next stage.
Build
Having obtained the final design, we can then progress and put together the website (the 'build'). The length of time this takes is very much dependent upon the complexity of the design. The more features which are to be included, the longer it will take and more involved it will be.
Domain Name
Having built the website, a name has to be purchased and registered. This is the name by which you want to be known on the Internet plus the 'dot com' or 'dot net' etc, and prices to vary but usually average at the cost of a couple of pints of beer for one year. We will find and register this name for you.
Hosting
The next step in the process is to place your website on the World Wide Web, or 'internet' as it is known. For this we have to purchase web space from a commercial website hosting service which is a yearly commitment. We can discuss this with you, organise the hosting and upload (place) your website on the internet, so everyone can see it.
Maintenance
By the very nature of website's, they need to be updated, so that they contain the very latest information. To do this requires specialist software (programme) in most cases. To save you purchasing the equipment and learning how to use it(!), we can maintain your website on our behalf. You just send us the information and we can amend your website.
